Finland) uses his voice as a main instrument when he portrays everyday life. He has three types of performances: purely vocal ones, histories with words, and interdisciplinary work. The inspiration for his performance Silence, was taken from the cartoon «silence» by the Belgian Didier Comés. The protagonist Silence is dumb and Comés’ world is mysterious and literally black and white. Valkeapää uses his voice to portray the living and working conditions of the homeless and the night watchmen, people who either live or work somewhere in the sphere between the visible and invisible society. Silence premiered at Forum Box, Helsinki in February 2007. Since 1993, Valkeapää has created 500 performances of 120 different works in 24 countries. His work comprises solo and group productions in the fields of performance, theatre, music and dance.
