Anne-Marte Før (f. 1981) sin kunstnarlege praksis tek ofte form som initierte hendingar knytt til ein stad, ein gjenstand, ei historie eller eit fenomen. Gjennom menneska som er til stades oppstår eit rom for forhandling mellom ein kulturhistorisk posisjon og ei notidig. Eit rom som kan ta innover seg konturane av kompleksiteten det aktuelle objektet står i; tid, ulike tider, det midlertidige og det omskiftelege, menneska sitt handlingsrom og gjenstandar si evne til å solidarisere seg med kvarandre. Over det heile ligg undringar kring hierarki og definisjonsmakt i kulturelle og historiske narrativ, bristen i det nasjonale og tyngda i det stadbundne. I botnen ligg ei tru på det empatiske potensialet i menneska sine ibuande behov for tru, tolking, mat, varme og nærleik.
Verket Vi trudde vi høyrde enden av atterklangen, reiste oss og gjekk, er eit lydarbeid med utgangspunkt i matklokketradisjonen og tek form gjennom matklokkene og landskapet i Stange Vestbygd. Lytteverket finn stad utandørs ved garden Røhne Nedre i Stange Vestbygd. Matklokker frå sju garder er med i forestillingen.
Anne-Marte Før har ein brei bakgrunn frå kulturfeltet, ho har mellom anna utdanning innan kunsthistorie, fotografi og ein BA i kulturprosjektleiing med biletkunst som spesialfelt. Dei seinare åra har ho retta seg meir inn mot ei utøvande rolle i kunstfeltet og går for tida på Kunstakademiet ved Kunsthøgskolen i Oslo.
Anne-Marte Før (b. 1981) often expresses her art through initiated events linked to a place, a story or a phenomenon. Through the people present, a space is created for negotiating a position in art history with one in the present. The space can incorporate the contours of the complexity of the object, such as time, the temporary and the changeable, people’s room for manoeuvre and the ability of objects to show solidarity with each other. The overarching factor is the hierarchy and who gets to define the cultural and historical narratives, the flaw in the national and the substance of the local. Underlying is a belief in the compassionate potential of people’s innate need for faith, interpretation, food, warmth, and intimacy.
We thought we heard the end of the echo, stood up and left is a work of audio art based on the tradition of farm dinner bells and the landscape of Stange Vestbygd. Dinner bells from seven farms are used in the performance, which takes place outdoors by the farm Røhne Nedre in Stange Vestbygd.
Anne-Marte Før has an extensive cultural background from studies in art history and photography, as well as a BA in project management with a specialisation in the visual arts. In recent years she has directed her attention to creating art herself and she is currently studying at the Academy of Fine Art at Oslo National Academy of the Arts.
