Geir Stormoen, Objekter og rom

Geir Stormoen (1942) er billedhugger og arbeider nå mest med skulpturer i ulike typer metaller som han bearbeider gjennom støpning og sveising. Utstillinga omfatter nye arbeider i små og store formater, og utgangspunktet er gjerne former fra naturen. Stormoen ser skulpturene som tredimensjonale tegninger i rommet. I arbeidsprosessen jobber han med skisser som blir tegnet opp i 3D, skåret med vann-jet, sveiset, sandblåst og overflatebehandlet på et mekanisk verksted. Stormoen er utdanna ved Statens håndverks- og kunstindustriskole i Oslo, Kunsthåndværkerskolen i København, Statens kunstakademi i Oslo og Kunstakademiet i Warszawa. Gjennom årene har han deltatt på flere utstillinger og har utført mange store oppdrag innen offentlig kunst, blant annet veiskulpturen Snøkrull i Trysil og Kongle i en rundkjøring i Brumunddal. Stormoen er bosatt i Brumunddal.

Geir Stormoen (b. 1942) is a sculptor who now predominantly works with metal sculptures, which he shapes through casting and welding processes. The exhibition comprises new works of various sizes and the points of departure are often natural shapes which Stormoen perceives as three-dimensional drawings. During the artistic process he works on sketches that are drawn in 3D, cut with a water jet, welded, sandblasted and surface-finished at a mechanical workshop. Stormoen is a graduate of the Oslo National Academy of the Arts, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, the National Academy of Fine Art in Oslo and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Over the years he has participated at many exhibitions and carried out several extensive public art commissions, including the roadside sculpture Snøkrull in Trysil and Kongle on a roundabout in Brumunddal, the town where Stormoen lives.
