Marianne Brekke (f. 1965) arbeider med abstrakt maleri. Med utgangspunkt i en intuitiv arbeidsmetode er det ofte en farge eller et lys som setter arbeidsprosessen i gang. Hennes interesse ligger i hvordan vi mennesker blir påvirket av lys, farge og fargens fysiske egenskaper. Fargenes egenskap gjenspeiler minner, bestemte øyeblikk, estetiske opplevelser, eller ubehag.

Marianne Brekke er utdannet ved Vestlandets kunstakademi i Bergen og kunstakademiet i Helsinki Finland. Hun har deltatt i gruppeutstillinger ved QB galleri og hatt separatutstilling samme sted i 2021. Hun har også stilt ut i galleri LNM. Bærum Kunsthall, Sandefjord Kunstforening og House of Foundation i Moss. Nasjonalmuseets Bibliotek. Hun har også deltatt flere ganger på Høstutstillingen. Østfold Kunstsenter Fredrikstad. Rogaland Kunstsenter i Stavanger og LIAF Svolvær. Hun har utført offentlige kunstprosjekter, blant annet ved Refstad barneskole i Oslo. Huddinge Karolinska sykehus i Stockholm, Bredtveit Kvinnefengsel i Oslo og Botiltak Larvik Kommune. Hun er innkjøpt av Den Norske Bank.

Marianne Brekke (b. 1965) works with abstract painting. Based on an intuitive working method, the creative process is often initiated by a colour or a particular quality of light. Her interest lies in how we as human beings are affected by light, colour, and the physical properties of colour itself. The qualities of colour reflect memories, specific moments, aesthetic experiences, or discomfort.

Marianne Brekke studied at the Vestlandets kunstakademi in Bergen and at the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki. She has participated in group exhibitions at QB Gallery and held a solo exhibition there in 2021. She has also exhibited at Galleri LNM, Bærum Kunsthall, Sandefjord Kunstforening, House of Foundation, and the library of the National Museum of Norway. She has also participated several times in Høstutstillingen, and exhibited at Østfold Kunstsenter, Rogaland Kunstsenter, and LIAF in Svolvær.

She has carried out several public art commissions, including projects for Refstad Primary School in Oslo, Karolinska University Hospital in Huddinge, Bredtveit Women’s Prison in Oslo, and supported housing facilities for Larvik Municipality. Her works have been acquired by Den Norske Bank.
