Wenche Kvalstad Eckhoff fyller hele Kunstbanken med lekne og tankevekkende fortellinger fra byrommet. Arbeidene tar utgangspunkt i arkitektur og byen som kulturell og sosial arena. I den store salen viser hun objekter og installasjon laget spesielt for rommet. Verkene utgjør et spenningsfelt mellom gjenkjennelige materialer, bruksgjenstander og funnet materiale i mer eller mindre bearbeidet tilstand.

I resten av huset vises video, foto, materialarbeider, tegning, maleri og collage. Bakgrunnen for arbeidene er hennes byvandringer, hvor hun samler inntrykk og materialer, og deretter bearbeider og endrer tilstandene mellom rom og flate, mellom tegn, struktur, foto og tekstfragmenter. Det faktiske og det fabulerende sklir over i hverandre og utfordrer betrakteren.

Wenche Kvalstad Eckhoff (f. 1946) er født i Stange, og bor og arbeider i Oslo. Hun har stor utstillingsaktivitet og omfattende deltakelse i landart-prosjekter nasjonalt og internasjonalt. Hun var arrangør og deltagende kunstner sammen med Finn Aage Andersen og Knut Wold i ART-prosjektene på Hedemarken i perioden 1989–1997. Hennes arbeider er innkjøpt av blant andre Oslo kommune, Norsk kulturråd, Nordenfjeldske Kunstindustrimuseum, private, kommunale og fylkeskommunale instanser.

Wenche Kvalstad Eckhoff fills the entire Kunstbanken with playful and thought-provoking stories from urban spaces. Her works are based on architecture and the city as a cultural and social arena. In the large hall, she presents objects and installations made specifically for the space. The works create a tension between recognisable materials, everyday objects, and found materials in more or less processed states.

Throughout the rest of the building, video, photography, material works, drawings, paintings and collages are displayed. Her work draws inspiration from urban walks, where she collects impressions and materials. She then processes and transforms these elements, exploring the interplay between space and surface, signs and structures, photography and text fragments. The boundary between the real and the imaginary blend into one another, challenging the viewer.

Wenche Kvalstad Eckhoff (b. 1946) is from Stange and currently lives and works in Oslo. She has an extensive exhibition history and has been involved in numerous land art projects, both in Norway and abroad. She was an organiser and participating artist, alongside Finn Aage Andersen and Knut Wold, in the ART projects in Hedmark from 1989 to 1997. Her works are featured in collections such as the City of Oslo, Arts Council Norway, the National Museum of Decorative Arts and Design in Trondheim, as well as various private, municipal and regional institutions.
